On Thursday 20 February 2020, the PEPPER team won the new Psychosocial Award of the Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) Conference 2020 in Madrid. The prize was awarded for the abstract Trust and contextual engagement with the PEPPER system: the qualitative findings of a clinical feasibility study [1], led by Marion Waite and presented by Arantza Aldea, both from Oxford Brookes University. The award is sponsored by a fund of Professor Katharine Barnard-Kelly and Mr Ryan Kelly at Barnard Health Research Limited. They have offered this new award because they believe that it is crucial for human factors and psychosocial research to shape the way people are able to access and engage with diabetes treatments. Abstracts were scored across several categories by a multi-disciplinary panel of leading experts in the field. These categories covered Innovation, Approach Taken, Quality of Science, Potential Impact and Presentation Delivery.

The PEPPER team had a total of three abstracts at the conference [1, 2, 3]. The project members took the opportunity of being co-located in Madrid to hold a meeting to finalise the data analysis plan (see below).
